Horseshoe pitching? Yes, it’s the first time Singapore Turf Club is crowning its official champion here. Often you hear billiard, darts, pool, golf competition, but nothing like that in Singapore. Basically, you just have to throw the heavy horseshoe and hook it in the pole which is about 6 metres away. If your horseshoe lands nearer to the pole than your competitor, you will also score points. I battled it out with all the uncles and was qualified into the finals.

horseshoe pitching looks like this. i think its a game for uncles omg.

To begin, its actually quite spontaneous how I get myself implicated in this fresh yet funny game. I was one of the spectators when I decided to register myself but was told registration was already close. Fortunately, one of the competitors decided to vanish and there I was, a registered player the very last minute and competiting with the rest of the pros. ok, only some are pros but obviously I was the youngest player and I have zero experience. Still I made it, kicking their asses soo hard. im quite proud of it actually!

one of my pitch in action. i look crappy somehow when im focused on something.

After making some careful observation how other players pitch, I figured how the game is played. Then like any other athletes before their game, I visualized myself making some throws, my body positions and stuff. During the actual game, I hooked the horseshoe to the pole one after the another like magic, eventually be the first scoring 21 points and win even before the reaching the maximum 20 pitches. Damn, it was a quick game.

sure i looked crappy while pitching but i kicked ass.

Ill be competiting the finals on the 13 may, 12pm, at Tiong Bahru Plaza. My eye is on the $2000 prize money. Sometimes you wanna have someone share with your sorrows, but theres something else. Ego or something else. So everytime you have to hide the truth and pretend to be strong in the forefront. this builds up and finally you think of giving up everything you have. Your life, your soul and yourself.
For the past 21 years of my life, I was brought up to think good guys are likeable. But now, I kinda believe that good guys are always the last behind the finishing line. So unfair. So should I be a asshole instead?
Is that honestly what you all want, if it is I think i will just cut my losses in the dating game and say f*** it because it is not worth having my heart broken everytime I begin to feel something. Not happening but thanks anyway.

The nasty truth is that it's a fact of life, we have those pains as a guide. They teach us what we are really looking for, and yes it's normally a hard lession. Love is bumpy road, it is never a smooth sailing as the fairy tales…

Oh just to remind girls, if you dont like us, say so, dont lead us up the path. Get this right once and for all. To shatter someones dream is a horrible thing to do. It will have a persons heart smashed into thousands of pieces a couple of times. The next thing you know, another person has turn cold-hearted and prob wont give a toss about anything, very much like zombies without any feelings.

price to pay

Got myself into a puddle of Dublin mudslide. Got myself into a mess, that is. (Dublin mudslide is name of an icecream flavour). A month ago, I got a job working in river valley in a pet restaurant, but was told only to start work at mid-may due to the renovation. since I wanted a job badly that time, I plainly agreed to them and signed a contract that states a huge sum to pay if I were to break it. as the matter of fact, i was unwilling to wait patiently for another 1 month plus. I wanted something temporary to fill me in during this period so I got myself a job at downtown east B&Js. During my interview with B&Js, I realized they wanted someone who can commit to the job for at least several months, so I blatantly lied that I could consent to that. Now, I got myself working in B&J and have to worry about how I could ever get that money to pay for the breach in contract in may. This time I got myself into big trouble because of a decision made in the spur of the moment. im seriously stressed up. I could worry less in other things right now then to figure how I could suppose to pay back with this kinda pay check.

better man in BJ

a job. at last! its been close to 2 months since my graduation. i was left jobless and that close to being a junk to the society. i thought i was a liability to my parents. You know, taking money from parents and not doing anything to ease their burden. Although I did help out in the house chores, still, this is not a way of life for me.

The journey to look for a decent job has been tough. Heres how it has been for me - I got so fed up waiting for the job agencies and schools (applied for relief teaching) to call me up. Went for hundreds of interviews and was never got back. The DWONside about job agency is that they would call you a few times and then give up on you. plus, you have to be in some stupid contract.

then my plan b – look into the classified. Still, besides sales job and other ‘chap-pa-lang jobs’ most jobs required a full time and to be able to commit at least 2 months. Everytime I called, they would tell me, ‘ok, maybe you can come down first then we talk,ok?’ so see? no point. F*** la, you want me to come down then what for I call?! Call you still ask this ask that, then…

Anyhow, the plan C came, where I would walk-in myself and ask if they are hiring. My friend told me that I looked desperate but I thought it was better to just sit there and just whine that the world is unfair. So there, the aggressive mode, also very effective.

On Monday, I went downtown east and approached the Ben & Jerry’s staff and ask if they were hiring, and immediately, after some paperwork, I was hired. See? Tried and worked formula. For part-time and temp, don’t bother to call from the classified, man.

SHHIOK! My workplace is within 10mins of walking distance. Plus, after all that frantic search, naturally i dont have high expectations of my pay.

Its my first day today and I have so many things to commit to memory. One big problem that I have to deal with was to memorise the ice-cream names. If you have been to Ben & Jerry’s you know what I mean. Those ‘funky’ names pose a problem to me. I also have to take note of the ingredients so as to caution people with special conditions like nut allegies, milk allegies, alcohol allegies and whatever. er, kinda like a doctor I think. I have tasted all the flavours and I would recommend the Chocolate Fudge Brownie!

Now, if you excuse me, I have ice-cream to memorize.

ps: 17th april is our "free cone day". so come on down to get your free ice-cream!

warehouse job

The warehouse job 2 days ago was a complete erroneous choice ive made…stocktaking for 2 days…but luckily for me thats also the only period im staying there. You cannot relate anything in there to real life.
Is the movie that bad? I would say you be a happier person saving that $6.50 for 2 happy meals. Almost every household in Singapore have it. Talk about a diploma cert. unless you are thinking entrepreneur, you aint going no where bro.

what do you get when you have excellent sound systems in a HDB flat?
Nothing less than having a jealous neighbour who starts hurling a couple of beer cans at your doorstep. F*** whoever did that.

Living in HDB flat and owning Altec Lancing speakers is a chemistry formula go bad. Kaboom!

Owning a superb speaker system is every boy’s ultimate fantasy. Especially those types that have a 6” down firing subwoofer that cost less than picking up a low-grade hooker.

For people who are looking for speakers for your pc, here are some things to look for:
- The table space you have – consider 2.1 instead of a 5.1 if you are crammed up.

- The capacity of boom – want the disco effect then consider higher rms/watts and inche of your subwoofer’s driver.

- Aesthetics – speakers made up of wood have crispier sound than plastic ones. They look darn good too.

And from all the research I have done, some 2.1 speakers i would recommend:
Altec lancing ATP3 (real deal, clear cymbals sounds and deep bass)

Altec lancing MX5021 (for fuller and heavy booming bass, very entertaining but is huge)

Klipsch GMX A-2.1 (solid bass for gamers, comes with hefty price and has unique aesthetics)

Acoustic Energy Aego2 (bright sounds)

Altec lancing VS4121 (very full sounding overall, good booming bass and very affordable)

Logitech Z-2300 (crazy specs but not offered in Singapore)

And. . . unless you are a patriot, give no sh** to Creative.
From experience, PC speakers just cant match up with stereo speakers. So if you are tech-junky enough, hook up your stereo speakers to your PC with the Y connector for supreme fulfillment.

Altec Lancing ATP3. The only branded speakers that sincerely executes and cost absolutely peanuts. When you experience it yourself, you know it is worth much more than what you paid for.

This is THE speaker that you love and your neighbours hate.

art attack

Short talk: I just couldn’t understand the Singtel MIO advertisement sometimes. I still don’t understand what Singtel is trying to promote. Oh ya, that Tiger Beer series of ads the other time, I think just waste a lot of money. Nobody I knew understand what the ad was trying to convey.

I remember my mom use to send me to art classes when I really young. So young that I couldn’t remember the things I was taught. And during my primary school days, I was always the one in class to get all the attention when we need to hand in our art pieces. I simply did nothing, my parents spent all night to finish MY art work. Naturally, I became the art teacher’s favourite student.

But it’s been years since my glory arty days, I still have the passion to draw things every now and then. I also tried my hands on a art item recently – don’t laugh ok?

The things you’ll need to make this monster:
-PVA glue mixture (PVA with abit of water)
-Toilet paper
-Acrylic paint
-Perforated cardboard
-Scissors
-Patience

First you need to draw your monster face onto the cardboard. Then cut it out of the cardboard. Dip the toilet paper into your PVA and stick in on the face parts that you want it to protrude later on. It can be a little slimy! Apply more paper on the nose if you want your monster to have bigger uglier nose.

It will look like this!

Let it dry for 2 days and it will become harden. Then paint the whole area with black paint and wait for it to dry. After which, give it a gold paint to have that corroded artifact look. TATA! It’s done!

My very own monster artifact!

I applied for a waiter job in a pet restaurant located in River Valley.

Requirements:
Applicants must be a DOG LOVER.
Applicants must be good with animal and be willing to work in a pet restaurant.
Prior experience in waitering is required.
Applicants must be jovial, independent, energetic and positive working attitude.
Applicants must have good command of English and Mandarin with a pleasant personality

Im curious if the restaurant needs me to serve the dogs or the owner of the dogs.
‘Applicants must have good command of English and Mandarin with a pleasant personality?’
Do I need to communicate to the dogs or what? And then smile at them ar.
Working with animals always appeal to me therefore I’m going down for an interview tomorrow. Wish me luck!

IT SHOW 2007

The mind of the drunken hermit is not on the wine, its lingering in the beauty of the scenery.
In pinyin its:'Zui weng zi yi bu zai jiu, zai hu shan shui zi jian ye'

For the past 3 days I have been busy at the IT fair which is held at Suntec City.

And if you are thinking I got my job as a promoter then you are wrong.

Of all jobs, im working as an walking advertisement.

Yup, it really felt stupid to be stare upon by the crowds but with these hot hot xiao mei mei now and then by their booths, it make the job all worthwhile.

Those days, they don’t used girls to sell their stuff. You trusted him with your butt, now trust him with your feet."

Spoiler Warning: Plot and/or ending details may not follow.

After falling in love with the drama series ‘lost’, I have find myself an addict to ‘Heroes’. The series tells the story of several people who woke up one day to find themselves with incredible abilities.
They becomes like the x-men but their powers ranges from human flight, telekinetic and people with ability to self heal – according to the show, spontaneous cell regeneration. and they don’t don superhero costumes like every hero does. It’s a pretty nice show because these people are like you and I until they discover that they are ‘special’. Eventually each of them realize they have a role to play in a mission to ‘save the world’. I enjoyed the part when the heroes used their new found powers for personal.

Although it sound cliché but for people who likes sci-fi or fantasy shows like myself, would definitely love this show. Highly recommended. This show prompted me to think that the evolution of our DNA could really make x-men a reality? Imagine – a battle between two person with superhuman strength could possible demolish blocks of HDB.
If I have a power to choose from, it will be to bend the space/time contiuum just like Hiro Nakamura. Then I will be able to freeze time and change the reality. And maybe teleport myself into places that I would have been restricted. like the you-know-where. –wink-

Its showing every wed 9pm on star world and if you are impatient like me, you can also you-know-what on the internet to watch the whole season at a go. With a assortment of honor and accolades before season 1 culminate, including the nominated the program for a Golden Globe Award for "best television drama", you can be sure it offers some serious entertainment. And man is niki hot.

Interesting quotes from one of the episodes:

1) We are, if anything, creatures of habits. Drawn to the safety and comfort of the familiar. But what happens when the familiar becomes unsafe, when the fear that we have been desperately trying to avoid finds us where we live?

We are all, at our cores, the sum of our fears. To embrace destiny we must inevitably face those fears and conquer them. Whether they come from the familiar or the unknown.

2) evolution is an imperfect and often violent process. A battle of what exist and what is
yet to be born. And in the midst of this birth pains, morality loses its meanings.

The question of good and evil reduces to one simple choice – survive or perish.

3) We all imagine ourselves the agents of our destiny, capable of determining our own fate. But have we truly any choice in when we rise or when we fall? Or does a force larger than ourselves bid us our direction? Is it evolution that takes us by the hand? Does science point our way? Or is it God who intervenes, keeping us safe

post exam

Some things are so inherently funny that no caption,
however clever, could possibly be funnier than the basic fact that those things exist.
An enormous inflatable Snoopy with a vagina is one of those things.

Exams is over! I had so much fun doing up my house.
Heres my version of Cribs. Come on in, let me show you around. its like a mini makeover, my dad and I work together to make the little changes around the house.

The entrance area

The dining area

The tv area

Painting my own house for the first time was an thrilling affair as you slowly enjoy every minute of transformation. I was in-charge of painting mainly the ceiling area which happens to be the most arduous when I had to spend 6 hours looking up and be focused. By the time I was through, I was aching all over. except when you know you are done; the satisfaction is like masturbation.

I didn’t see Santa during last Christmas but I see fortune god during Chinese new year. Im serious, 2 years back they are using the same guy for Christmas too.

The god of fortune comes to town to give words of wisdom.

Then we had a really good time during the reunion dinner. A widespread of delicacies were prepared by grandpa.

Reunion dinner is one of those very seldom get-togethers, besides that is only during my grandpa’s birthday. I always feel strange in get-together like this when everyone just keeps quiet. You can hear the crickets if not for the TV.

However stupid show will still have their eyes glued.

After dinner, instead of catching up with one another, everyone will just shut up and watch tv, like they don’t know each other. Strange eh? The fathers would ask their kids to behave and make sure they stay sitted. My father’s side of relative has this serious genetic disorder so much so that they wouldn’t talk much. I really can’t imagine if my grandpa is gone. That’s why I always treasure the time with grandpa.

At this moment, it marks the end of so many things. Life has ups and downs, all good things had to come to an end. But like every end, it is another wave of a new beginning. A beginning of adulthood and a new life. A career and a life to call my own.
It’s a whole new ball game, with different rules and different playing fields. Weekends will start looking more attractive than they ever did. Although uncertain, I’m sure im going to adapt well in the new world. Aww…
Nice flying kisses, smilies and all sweet things…but it was from an unknown number!
Ooo.. my first secret admirer! Or so I thought.
Then my phone rang at 4.45am in the morning. It was a guy.
He just said hello.
I was obviously pissed by the inconsiderate caller.
I replied: ‘who are you?’. He pauses, said ‘oh’ and quickly hangs up.
Bloody stupid called the wrong person.
Obviously this guy is stupid and probably gonna spent the next 10 valentines day alone.
I admire his courage but if he want to call her, why at this time?

i was thirsty so i looked for a convenient vending machine to buy a drink.

i hit the button with the 'ice tea' display and the fucking machine processed a fucking peach tea!

i wanted ice tea and you gave me peach! fuck!

this has happened to me and my friends so many times that it made us lose trust in all the vending machines in school!
i think the uncles who are loading the drinks into the machines are half awake everytime...
but the good news is that sometimes the doors of the machines will be left opened and no one is in sight...
but im not a greedy man. i took only 2 cans. :)

then, i was just surfing the net and i came across this -
that every year, about 13 people are killed by falling vending machines!

now, what is the odds of that happening to you?
almost impossible.

but for just your safety boys, dont do all that kicking and shaking to it next time.
i admit i did that - either when the stupid machine process the wrong drink or refuse to give me change.
but now i learn tht i could be paying a hefty price for the bad behaviours.

speaking about vending machines, i remember someone who told me about the vending machines in japan.
while the majority of machines in Japan are stocked with drinks, snacks, and cigarettes, one occasionally findsvending machines selling items such as bottles of liquor, cans of beer, fried food, underwear, pornography and sexual lubricants, and potted plants. how crazy hor.

why need to rock/tilt when there is a blur uncle coming?

future plans

mayday! help needed! does anyone knows how to do achiving for blogs? ive been desperately wanting to keep my entries organized! going crazy already!!! and why is there 'Posted at »'? another big headache was i have to type 'br' (breaks) after every single sentence to avoid cramped up words...blogging has never been that taxing.. Absurd.

i have reached a new milestone in my life.
like a cocoon to a moth,i have reached my 21st year in my life and it feels like i have a newer life ahead of me

since a new life begins from here, i think itd be a good time for me to look back the good and bad things i have done in my life...

i believe how you want people to treat you, it should be how you treat them
the world is round and life goes full circle

time after time, i look at my own actions and review them

i had begin to ask myself some questions:
have i been giving enough back to the community?
have i been a good friend?
was i there when friends around me are in trouble?
have i been a good son?
have i been making full use of what i was given by the heavens?
life have been good to me.
but i havent been making good use of it.
i have not been good to life itself.
i would say that i have a privileged life. reading the papers and i realized that im living from such sheltered background…
-i don't have burden of having 3 proper meals a day
-i don't have to worry about my day to day shelter
-i have a proper education
-i have almost everything my friends have
-i have a computer
-i have my own room
-i have my parent who still loves each other
-i have my sensible younger sister and brother
-i have a happy family
-i have forgiving friends

sometimes I hope my life could be not so sheltered

the stories of successful people that i have read have almost similar traits
these are mostly people who have gone through a series of hardship and excrutiating pain before they become what they are today. they were called stupid, useless and thought by their friends that they are never going to succeed in the future.. but eventually they turn the tables and proved everyone wrong.

so back here, i am beginning to worry that i might not be where i want to be in the future simply because i have not be given that harsh punishment by the heavens...i want to get out of my sheltered life.

i seem to have EVERYTHING but...
it also seems that i have NOTHING..
i feel EMPTY...

but the question is:
have i been too complacent about my life?
have i gotten too lazy?
what have i done to value add people around me?
am i a good friend?
what have i done to pay back to my parents?
what can i do to let them have a better life instead of watching them working their life off and still be a burden to them?

have i done enough to value add myself?
what have i done for myself?

am i good at anything at all really?

i learn magic but was never good at it and i gave up
i play soccer but was never good at it
i tried having my own business but i realise it just didnt work
i tried getting my driving license but i failed
i tried learning guitar thrice but didnt make the cut
then i thought i could be in a band and make it big, but i realised it was wishful thinkings on my part.
cos i thought i could even sing well. but the fact was, i cant.
i want to try excel in at least something in my life but until now, i am still thinking what would be the something that i would be good at.
when i was young i knew i was great and happy, but now i realise how small i am on this world.
could i be doing something now to improve the situation instead of whining in blogs ?

i think life is short, its fragile...

like one of my friend who met with an accident..

the clock is ticking and the next moment you are in your next milestone

you could get married, you could be a parent, you could be in the queue of being the next kin to be worshipped

so i have learnt to seize opportunities and live happy.

i want to do so many things but just waiting for that chance to come..

oh god, make my life miserable!

projecting

it's been some crazy crazy project week but before i can take some time off to have a nice rest.. i shall do a little review...

im not those whining sorts but i just want to get it off my chest..

you know somehow i feel i always end up in the same group everytime and ending up with people whom just don't seem to work well with me is fcking annoying. and i was fcking annoyed for 4 modules and one whole sem!

if i have the chance to tell them nicely, it would be like this:

what you think its good enough might not be what i think its good enough.

so it wouldn't be fair to say what im doing is not good enough.

it will not be fair for you to start editing every piece of my work and call it your work and thinking you might be doing more work. all because you think its not good enough.

i do not appreciate your effort to 'revamp' my work.

it is then not fckin fair if you starts to critize me on my work because i know i have done my job well.

my advise: everything just cannot go your way when you work in a group. thats why its call group work. learn to accept and see everyone's potential and make it happen. if you think everyone thinks like you then its gotta get ugly.

<img width='1' Our cars are like cholestrol in the blood. you need cholestrol fo proper functioning of the body, but too much is not good for you because it clogs your arteries...

another fantastic thing about this baby is that it can take off and hit 60km/h in just 5 seconds! and took corners at high speeds. sometimes you can just imagine the whole train flip over and smashes on the busy roads below. along the way i also notice special names given to the stations like phoenix and jelutong. how the hack they get these names from? phoenix? i bet its some chinese guy who name it. so where's dragon?

although its not fast like e bullet-train, i feel very much being in a rollercoaster in the neighourhood. no wonder the kids enjoy themselves in the front seats and pretending to be drivers and making engine sounds.

what a cheap thrill.

ps:You must have noticed that the train windows mist up whenever the train travels around certain apartment blocks. The "misting windows" effect is due to a special liquid crystal film, which is sandwiched between the two glass panels of the train window and reacts to electricity. When the power supply is off, the molecules will move about at random order, turning the window glass opaque and resulting in the misting effect. The "misting windows" is to protect the privacy of residents whose units are located near the LRT guideways. Liquid crystal films are made in various sizes. The gap you noticed could be space between two films.

my first online shopping

when was the last time you did something for the first time?

well, i did my very first online shopping yesterday!

my mum had been eyeing on a foot messager for a very long time and it turns out that she couldn't find one that is of her budget. so i decided to source for an affordable one, online. and i ended up on yahoo auction hoping that i can get a second hand. and i know exactly which model to look for - osim Isqueez.

my own personal experience with the machine had left me with a very good impression since trying it out in the retail store. Osim is definately a quality brand when it comes to message and therapy.

so frantically search every single Isqueez that i can find and seive the ones which has description like 'seldom used', recently bought it' and 'very good condtion'. then i further do away with the higher priced ones.

so as you can tell, im trying to look for the newest condition and with the lowest price i can get.

then among those left that met my criteria, i created a watchlist and i try to ask more details about the conditons and at the same time bargain with the sellers further. (i know im kiasu, but everybody wants the best deal, right?

after some hardwork, bargaining skill and abit of luck, i got the best price of what is almost half of the brand new ones. plus, its in perfect working shape. at least from the description and pictures from the seller.

we arranged a meetup at the sellers house.

at this point of time i couldnt help to think its like a blind date. i have no idea whats the gender, age and not to mention how the person look like. so exciting!!!

so i turned up for the 'date'. my-o-my! the seller turns out to be a rather fine-looking lady. she allowed me to test the machine and made an effort to describe the features.

as the first time to do online shopping, i must say it have been a great start. the great experience is very must credited to the helpful and ethical seller.

ta-ta...great deal from a great dealer

so there you go, online shopping can be pleasant.

keep in mind that when you buy big machines like that, make sure you drive or grab someone who drives.

short talk on the online shopping trend:

Over the years, particularly year 2003-2004, online shopping traffic and monthly expenditure had increased drastically in Singapore. Equipped with internet technology skills, participating in online transactions have become a breeze to many people. as more and more local companies such as NTUC Fairprice and Eng Wah begin to introduce online channels in their marketing strategy, the chances of people participating in online shopping will undoubtedly be higher. Besides, given the numerous advantages of online shopping such as – allowing one to save more time and convenience, allowing greater choice and variety of goods and services, providing people with more competitive prices and product comparisons, it is inevitable that online shopping will continue to be a prominent trend among the shopping habits of Singaporeans in the next few years.

However, despite such advantages and benefits of online shopping, many other drawbacks and problems of online shopping still exists and remains unresolved presently. As illustrated previously, some of these problems include: the limited modes of payment that has excluded potential online shoppers from the trend, the various security and privacy issues that still remains a huge concern among online shoppers, and also the problem of making sure that the online shops or websites are reliable. Another limitation which seems impossible to solve at the current stage of technology is the “look and feel” experience.
Currently, technology can only show photographs and pictures of the products and buyers are not able to touch and feel the physical product. This is especially a problem for products such as clothes and shoes, where one needs to try it on in order to know its cut and size, before deciding whether to get it or not. This will thus, hinder the purchase decision of the buyer and is also a reason why many still prefer to do traditional shopping instead. Another problem of online shopping that still requires attention, is the increase in online crimes and unethical activities due to online shopping itself. This is also one of the main reasons why many are still deterred in engaging in online shopping. Hence, unless online shopping becomes more secure and reliable, it will definitely take more time and effort to convince people to start participating in online shopping.

intern life

today was the final day of my attachment. its kinda sad i know.

for i will miss the nice people here and i know theyll miss me too...

and the plants looks more greener and beautiful suddenly...

theres a tinge of unwillingness to know that this is my last day...

well, at least the report is finally done! As the bus moved on, a huge rock fell on the bus from the mountain and crushed the bus to crumbs. And whats better was that i got to attend some singing classes with a real singing instructor. the singing class was to help us prepare for the performance item during the dinner event. i was feeling excited about it as i always wanted to get into one but was too lazy to enrol myself.

back to the 80's. weird people appear from nowhere!

it wasnt what i expected - instructor playing the piano and we pitch accordingly. on the other hand, the instuctor played games with us and imparted us with the skills without us knowing it. it came to me that it wasnt easy to sing correctly.

'get into the groove' was the theme for the event, and the dress code was 'retro chic'. even so, some turn up as transvestite. and one dressed up in a lion dance mascot for the dinner! what a freak. i shall not elaborate how he eat his food. nevertheless that guy was the jester for the night.

the party was fantastic. the dance performances were beautifully chereographed and executed.

i followed trevolta, elvis and betty boob to MOS. the crazy bunch of people never had a lack of public attention. walking along clark quay, the ang mohs came up to us and greeted us like we were celebrities.

'wow man, you elvis?'

'no, the name is trevolta! (marmoset is a monkey species).

oops

but if we really are siblings in real life, my name will be ... dorriset?!

oh no!

well, i think it depends on who resembles like who. so, say she looks like me, then she will be named morrience. heehee.

it all started by a bunch of ppl who noticed that we look alike, then they were comparing who look like who and it gets quite irritating after a while. i was protesting that there was any resemblence in the first place. so in the end i just tell them, in either way, it is a compliment for any of us.

one bizzare truth was undeniable, we shared the same surname.

for some of the chinese believe, as an old saying goes, people with the same surname "belong to the same family 500 years ago",

so it wouldnt be surprising that we share similar facial features.

luckily i dont share the same surname like xu (chun mei)

or ru hua.

na bei, one joker told me that i should go home and check with my parents. chickenathan @#%@^&&$#%#%!

ps: i did some checking online and i found 2 facts which made me really really confused.

(1)that people with same surname belong to the same chinese clan and a group of related Chinese people with a common surname and sharing a common ancestor and, in many cases, an ancestral village. For a long time, Chinese surnames have been passed on from father to son, which happened to follow the same line with the Y chromosome unique to males. As a result, groups bearing the same surname possess the same kind of Y chromosome and the genes they carry.

(2)that same surname doesn't necessarily mean the same family. it is said that a big surname can have over a hundred origins. For example, Li, the biggest surname in China, was sometimes turned from "Ying" and "Zhao". In Tang Dynasty (618-907), Li as the imperial surname was granted to the national founders, and even during late Wei kingdom (220-265) period, some compound surnames of Xianbei (Sienpi) tribe were also changed to Li.

okay this is beginning to sound or look like wikipedia...yet another interesting fact about chineses surnames:

Top 100 Surnames was actually a book that recorded 504 surnames and compiled before 400 B.C. Chinese surnames started with the first ancient emperors Yan and Huang.

Surname Li ranks the first among the top 100 surnames due to its wide origins. The research discovered that there were more than 100 origins for Li. And famous Chinese ancient philosopher Laozi's family name was Li, too. if you want a diary then go get one, why blog and show everyone?

i will probably put it this way - 'wey, slowly lah, one question at a time!'

well, first of all, i don't blog because i have the commercial motive like the blog princess 'xiaxue', then hopefully get some media's attention and get a chance to meet the bigshot celebrities, get famous, get sponsors, get advertisments...and get into a sticky mess.

blogging may have propel some ordinary folks to stardom overnight, when their daily visiting numbers skyrockets to 20,000 - they get recognised as celebrity bloggers.

-song playing greenday's 'lifestyle of the rich & the famous'.-

but i would rather answer you, that blogging is a way to let people into your personal space and share with them about your life. it gives you the time and freedom to think about what you want to say and with some pictures, you are able tell them what you are trying to say!

blogging is a different avenue for self-expression. we are living in a visual world, so it is very natural we can express ourselves. you could be bring the world to your perspective of different matters, let others see the world through your eyes...without having them interupting you half way and starts to argue about how they sees it.

so its a little like, 'you shut up first...i haven't finish sharing...eh, where was i'???

gets a little fustrating isn't it?

okay, then, maybe you will probably be scratching your brains and nuts and wonder, why is my title called - 'replay'?.

erm, if you have been to arcade to play games you'll understand this.

now picture this, you were on the game and then...

- gameover -

- timer starts counting down -

- 10, 9, 8, 7...-

- prompting to continue -

and you probably can play the game over and over till you run out of cash right?

in life, its the opposite. you just live that moment and the next, its gone forever...
in that moment itself, 10 people could be playing the same game, at the same level, but everybody experiences different moments.

in my own perspective, 'commmon sense' can be wrong and 'routines' isn't exactly normal...if you take a closer look at things happening around us. that is.

hopefully, through blogging, i could show e people how different MY routines can be.
understand me a little better.

hence the title replay, im able to replay that moment of my life and relive it. of course to share it with everyone.

lets roll.
